Craft Ideas 101
Craft Ideas 101
Hi there, welcome to Craft Ideas 101.
This site has two primary purposes – The most important is bringing children (including recalcitrant teens) and their parents closer together. The second reason is to enable parents, teens and even preteens to develop their own craft ideas and use them to earn a small income. Actually, with careful thought, planning and given a bit of time, your craft ideas can bring in a substantial income.
Deciding on and implementing craft ideas are fun, chores are not!
I have found that young people of all ages love earning their own income when they are doing something they particularly like doing. It is also a lot healthier in terms of their respect for their parents and the family . Doing chores for pocket-money is NOT fun and usually results in sulky, irritating and irritable behavior. Chores should be done freely and out of love and respect.
Since we are starting this site at the beginning of November, you can start by getting the family together and utilizing the Christmas craft ideas. You can even invite the kids friends along and make a party of it. My own children and now their children (and friends) used to have a wonderful time coming up with various craft ideas for Christmas and other times of the year.
Of course it can get messy at times, but the wonderful sense of togetherness, the happy grins and the pride of achievement has always made crafting and experimenting with new craft ideas very rewarding.
Earning an income with craft ideas – how to start.
Earning and income from your craft ideas is not particularly difficult. It does however need patience. No business is a success overnight. It is probably best to start with seasonal crafts – such as those on Christmas Craft Ideas pages.
I know of one little girl who insisted that her grandfather help her make “reindeer” out of dried wood branches. This little girl then marched off to a local store which had similar items available for sale. Needless to say, she sold her “stock” of 20 reindeer and walked out of the store with an order for another 100, much to Grandpa’s dismay and her delight. That 9-year-old pre-teen made herself a nice income that year.
There are hundreds of craft ideas available. Examples include, origami; metalwork; woodwork; basket weaving; scrapbooking; creating personalized birthday cards or wedding invitations; fabric painting; decoupage; pottery; beadwork; and many, many more.
The best way to get started is to simply start! Use the craft ideas on this website as well as the craft ideas I will send you on a weekly basis (if you complete the form at the top right of this page). I will even send you a delightful book on craft ideas for kids.
